How to Evaluate a Chinese PV Supplier Before You Order

Start with evidence, not presentation

A polished website is not proof of manufacturing capability. Ask for the legal entity name, business license, factory address, production-line details, and recent export references. Cross-check every document against the entity that will sign your contract.

Review technical and quality systems

For modules, request current IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 documentation from recognized laboratories. For battery products, confirm the standards required in your destination market. Review incoming inspection, traceability, calibration, and final-test records.

Use a weighted scorecard

Score suppliers across technical fit, quality maturity, financial stability, communication, lead time, warranty enforceability, and total landed cost. Avoid selecting on unit price alone.

The strongest supplier is the one that can consistently deliver the required specification—not simply the lowest quotation.

Verify before paying a large deposit

Use a remote or on-site audit, verify bank-account ownership, approve a golden sample, and place a controlled pilot order before scaling.
