Incoterms for Solar Imports: A Buyer’s Guide

Incoterms allocate cost and risk

They do not replace a supply contract. Use the named place or port and the current Incoterms edition in every purchase order.

FOB is common, but not universal

FOB can provide buyers with freight control for containerized solar equipment. CIF may be convenient, while DDP requires careful review of importer-of-record and tax responsibilities.

Confirm the handover point

Align your quotation, contract, freight booking, cargo insurance, and customs plan before production starts.
