How to Find Reliable Suppliers in China

An Evidence-Based Supplier Sourcing, Verification & Shortlisting Toolkit for International Buyers

Turn supplier selection from an unstructured search into a repeatable, evidence-led decision process. Define the requirement, make evidence gaps visible, create more comparable RFQs and document which candidates deserve the next verification investment.

This toolkit supports supplier decisions. It does not recommend factories or guarantee identity, reliability, quality, compliance, delivery or commercial performance.

The Decision Problem

Finding supplier names is easy. Making a controlled supplier decision is harder.

Search platforms, trade fairs and referrals can produce a long list quickly. They do not automatically establish which legal entity will contract with you, who actually manufactures the product, whether technical documents cover the quoted model, or whether two quotations describe the same commercial scope.

A persuasive supplier profile can still leave important questions unanswered. Quotations may use different specifications, MOQs, Incoterms, packaging assumptions, testing scope, warranty terms and exclusions. Supplier claims can be copied into a scorecard before the supporting evidence has been examined.

  • candidate names without a documented requirement;
  • inconsistent quotations that cannot be compared like for like;
  • legal, trading and manufacturing identities treated as interchangeable;
  • documents collected without checking model, scope, issuer or current relevance;
  • missing evidence treated as neutral rather than unknown;
  • weighted scoring applied before mandatory gates;
  • shortlist decisions recorded without evidence confidence or next action.

What the Toolkit Does

A five-stage system for moving from requirement to shortlist.

Five-stage supplier-screening method: Define Discover Verify Compare and Shortlist.
  1. 01DEFINE

    Translate the buying need into a controlled sourcing requirement. Set the risk rules, mandatory gates and RFQ structure before supplier outreach begins.

  2. 02DISCOVER

    Build a candidate funnel through multiple channels. Record, deduplicate and screen candidates without confusing marketplace visibility with verified capability.

  3. 03VERIFY

    Examine the entity chain, supplier role, factory capability, quality controls, certifications, test reports, payment identity and other material evidence. Keep conflicts and unknowns explicit.

  4. 04COMPARE

    Run an evidence-led RFQ and normalize quotation scope before treating prices as equivalent.

  5. 05SHORTLIST

    Apply mandatory gates first, then weighted factors and evidence confidence. Decide whether to request more information, sample, audit, test, negotiate, shortlist, hold or reject.

FAQ

Is this a supplier list?

No. It is a supplier sourcing, verification and shortlisting decision system. It teaches a repeatable method and provides working tools; it does not provide a directory of factories.

Does the toolkit recommend specific factories?

No. SolarBridge does not endorse or rank named suppliers through this product. The worked case and Demo Workbook use illustrative data and are not supplier recommendations.

Does it guarantee supplier reliability?

No. Screening and evidence review can reduce uncertainty and improve the decision record, but they cannot guarantee identity, reliability, quality, delivery, compliance or future performance.

Is this only for solar or battery sourcing?

No. The method is category-neutral and designed for international buyers sourcing from China, particularly industrial and technical products. Product- and market-specific safety, certification and compliance requirements still require current specialist verification.

What software is needed for the Workbook?

The Workbooks are supplied in XLSX format. The intended environment is a current Microsoft Excel desktop application for Windows. Both v1.0 Workbooks were opened read-only in Microsoft Office Excel 16.0.19127.20302 on Windows on 23 August 2026. They also opened and exported in LibreOffice Calc 26.2.5.2, but LibreOffice is not the primary supported environment and behavior may differ.

What is the difference between the Clean and Demo Workbook?

The Clean Workbook is blank and ready for the purchaser’s own sourcing project. The Demo Workbook contains fictional illustrative data that shows how the sheets, controls and decision flow work together. Demo data is not a real supplier assessment.

Can my company use the files internally?

The intended commercial licence permits one purchaser and their internal company or team to use the files for internal sourcing work. This summary is subject to the final Terms review.

Can I share or resell the files?

No. Resale, redistribution, public posting, sublicensing and multi-client consultant reuse are not permitted under the intended licence. Final legal wording will appear in the applicable Terms.

Will I receive future updates?

Your purchase includes the version stated at checkout. Any future-update entitlement or upgrade terms will be stated separately if offered. Do not assume that future editions are included unless the checkout says so.

What if I need help with a live sourcing project?

Consulting is not included in either digital edition. If you have a live requirement and need help interpreting supplier evidence, comparing RFQs or planning the next verification action, you may discuss a separately scoped advisory project with Jackie.

How is the product delivered?

For Creem purchases, secure product access will be provided after successful payment through the approved purchase-confirmation and customer-access experience. Access details will be sent to the purchase email. Static public ZIP links are not used. Delivery remains subject to live end-to-end QA.

What is the refund policy?

Final refund and cancellation terms will be presented at checkout before purchase and will apply subject to applicable law.

Project-Specific Support

Applying the toolkit to a live sourcing decision?

If supplier evidence, RFQ comparability or next-step verification remains unclear, discuss a separately scoped advisory project with Jackie. Consulting is independent of the digital product purchase and is defined around the specific requirement, destination and decision.
