‘Parallel-Ready’ Is Not an Expansion Approval
A brochure may state that an inverter is parallel capable. That does not mean any later unit with a similar rating, model name or brand can be added safely and supported by the manufacturer.

Freeze the expansion path before the first PO
Record the exact part number, electrical variant, feature set, hardware revision and any production-date restriction. If the project depends on future availability, obtain the manufacturer's written replacement and migration route instead of relying on a generic product-family name.
Treat firmware and protocol as specifications
Compatibility can depend on firmware, communications protocol and manufacturer-specific identifiers. Current Victron VE.Bus guidance illustrates that unit type, firmware, compatibility IDs, phase topology, wiring and configuration can all matter. Another family or brand may use different rules.
Check the full system boundary
Confirm supported unit count, single-, split- or three-phase topology, AC/DC/communications wiring, protection design, configuration tools, settings and commissioning sequence. Separately validate battery and BMS continuous and surge-current limits.
Approve documented combinations only
Do not infer compatibility across sizes, revisions or brands. Require the current exact-model manual or written manufacturer approval and qualified system engineering. The buying decision should preserve a complete compatibility file with the batch and commissioning records.
